Workshop and other relevant dates for 2008:



Our teacher workshops have been developed to meet curriculum needs and support existing programmes such as Enviroschools. These pages are updated regularly to include new events and to confirm dates – ensure you have a link to this site!

Most of the events below will be promoted directly to schools and also via the School Support Services Environmental Education Advisor. All workshops are free for participating teachers.

Ongoing events

“Rivers and Us” teacher support (primary)

The Rivers and Us resource unit is an environmental education unit designed for levels two to four that focuses on the relationship between people and the water resources in the Waikato region

Email Dean King to find out more or to request support from the Schools Programme Co-ordinator.

“Stream Sense” teacher support (secondary)

Stream Sense is our water quality catchment monitoring programme for years 9-13. Schools can become involved in the monitoring of the water quality of their local stream and record the changes that occur.

Hamilton Junior Naturalists

Meet every Friday, Hamilton Rose Garden Horticultural Centre, 7-8:30pm in term time for ages 11-17 years.  Contact John Dale 07 855 4458 or check out the Hamilton Junior Naturalists website.

KCC Kiwi Conservation Club

This is a national organisation for children aged 5-12 years. The local Waikato branch runs field trips and talks throughout the year. Contact Chris Eames at 07 8567334 or check out the KCC website.
