APPENDIX I: Information RequirementsWater Quality
- The level of treatment which will occur prior to the discharge into the CMA.
- The extent to which the discharge is located near areas of high public use or to significant conservation values as identified in the maps in Appendix III of this Plan.
- The level of toxicity of any contaminants (individually and in combination).
- Demonstration that the flushing ability of the CMA will not be significantly affected.
- The extent to which a proposed use or development will affect water quality.
- A description of the existing water quality, including biological communities and their habitats.
- The effect of the activity on water colour, clarity and odour.
- The mixing ability of any contaminants.
- The extent to which adverse effects on water quality will impact on other activities, in particular marine farming.
- The quantity and frequency of any discharge.
- The effect of the activity on aquatic life, including the potential to stimulate undesirable biological growth.
- The provisions made for land-based disposal of solid and sewage wastes at ports, marinas and boat maintenance areas.
- Demonstration that the volume and level of contamination of the discharge has been minimised to the greatest extent practicable.
- Identification of the water characteristics, values and uses that exist for water, where a discharge is being considered.
