APPENDIX V: Additional Matters

The NZCPS sets out activities which are deemed to be restricted coastal activities. Applications for these activities involve a public hearing and are referred to the Minister of Conservation for a final decision. The hearings committee, which will include an appointee of the Minister of Conservation, will make a recommendation to the Minister. This recommendation may be appealed to the Environment Court, which in turn reports to the Minister. The Minister then makes the final decision on the application.
