1.3.4 Area Covered By, and Legal Effect of the Regional Policy Statement

The RPS is a statement of policy for the Waikato Region as constituted by the Local Government (Waikato Region) Reorganisation Order 1989. The local authorities comprising the Waikato Region are:

1. the Waikato Regional Council (Environment Waikato)
   
2. the territorial authorities of:
   
   1. Thames Coromandel District
      
   2. Hauraki District
      
   3. Franklin District (in part)
      
   4. Waikato District
      
   5. Matamata Piako District
      
   6. Hamilton City
      
   7. Waipa District
      
   8. South Waikato District
      
   9. Otorohanga District
      
   10. Waitomo District
       
   11. Rotorua District (in part)
       
   12. Taupo District (in part)

Regional and district plans prepared by these authorities are not to be inconsistent with the RPS for the Waikato Region.
