Our role in road safety

Environment Waikato provides leadership in road safety, ensuring that all activities across the region are effectively coordinated and the best safety outcomes are achieved for the regional community.

Environment Waikato oversees the development and implementation of the regions guiding policies, and also has a specific role to play in road user education on the regional transport network.

Regional education campaigns

Environment Waikato is funded to provide regional education and social marketing campaigns targeting the safety priorities outlined in the regional road safety strategy. Environment Waikato coordinates a multi-agency group known as the Regional Education Group (REG) for the purpose of this work.
