Waikato regional campaign launched

A hard hitting road safety campaign targeting drivers who take risks is being launched this week across the Waikato region. In this regional campaign, road safety agencies have pooled their resources in a coordinated approach to driver education. Visit the campaign website at www.reducetherisk.co.nz.

Our role in road safety
Environment Waikato provides leadership in road safety, ensuring that all activities across the region are effectively coordinated and the best safety outcomes are achieved for the regional community.
Environment Waikato oversees the development and implementation of the regions guiding policies, and also has a specific role to play in road user education on the regional transport network.
Regional education campaigns
Environment Waikato is funded to provide regional education and social marketing campaigns targeting the safety priorities outlined in the regional road safety strategy. Environment Waikato coordinates a multi-agency group known as the Regional Education Group (REG) for the purpose of this work.

Ruben the road safety bear
Ruben is the mascot for Environment Waikato’s Young Road User programme which reaches out to well over 10,000 children in the region each year and promotes road safety through an age appropriate fun interactive programme, website and kids club.You can visit Ruben's website and join his club here.
